When Umiña, a daughter of the gods-from-stone, first came to the continent, she brought with her ‘their unhatched legacy’. She founded the Emerald Kingdom to protect it, and gained the blessing of the Malachite, ‘in whom old blood ran strong’, to nurture the strength of her armies.

For centuries, the Kingdom persisted, until the Fourfold Realm arose. The Highmost Prince, at the heeding of his scarred patron, sought to make trophies of her charges, yet found none. For Umiña secreted them to ‘the root-cradle, the earth-womb’, taunting how their new guardian would forever keep them from his sight.
