She regards herself as an expert of these tunnels, having crossed continents and (supposedly) oceans through them. Her descriptions focus almost exclusively on their ‘eggshell-smooth walls,’ and she advises traversing them ‘with closed eyes, closed ears, closed mouths, closed skin.’

Included are a number of exhortations to the Beach-Crow to aid in returning above-ground.
