The vain Vucub-Caquix adorns himself with golden eyes, golden teeth, and golden blood. In their first attempt to shoot him down, Hunahpu’s arm is dismembered and his shoulder scars over with iron. When they defeat Vucub-Caquix, Hunahpu rejoins his arm to his scar while Xbalanque forges a weapon from their trophies…

Cautiously, the author calls them Names of the Colonel and the Lionsmith. Without an enemy, they fought each other, eternal warriors of the Corrivality driving the movement of sun and moon.
