Inscriptions along the rim describe a ceremony which celebrates, or perhaps facilitates, the Cross passing into humanity. Central to this is the liquor known as leathy, which may be prepared by softening a beverage with adequate Moth, and the guidance of the Mother into their new forms. ‘For us to shed our past,’ the rhyton reads, ‘it is necessary that we forget what we were.’
