Anointments of the Flesh

The Curicuillorian Margarita Lucero writes of the medical possibilities offered by the dangerous spirits of the invisible world. The Ruin of the Roots has always been infamous for its skolekosophic nature, but the Curicuillorians did not hesitate to turn them towards mortal ends.

‘The residents of the House of the Sun are not subject to the ills of the flesh. The most generous can extend their protections to those of us who live in the Wake.’ Lucero goes on to list numerous spirits to entreat or sacrifice: the ceaseless spirits of the Wood; the bloodiest Grail-names; those Lantern-long closest with the shadows of the world.

Lucero makes careful mention of the Hour she calls the Moonroot - known elsewhere as the Applebright. While the Moonroot may always heal, she always desires change, and so one who undergoes her treatments will never return to what they were. Sketches of ‘cured patients’ depict multi-jointed limbs, an overtoothed mouth, organs with no name; though disturbing, they display an alien beauty. Effect: Beguiling Melody
