‘The Benandanti, the Hamr, and the Nagual all knew that though the self is untouchable, it is not indivisible, and contains many layers like skin.’

Trinidad touches on Moth-long who ascend via the Old Form, taking on attributes of the Cross and binding themselves to the Wood. Many belong to the Hour named Moth, but the Witch-and-Sister also take on these Long as uyanantin, the ‘new-old-faced’, who can enter the Wake if one of their blood still lives. Trinidad goes on to compare the buzzing of bugs with the chirpings of birds, and relates his own efforts to decipher their ‘winged wisdom’.
