The Shadow of Glass
The glassmaker Jacobo Barovier authored this text on the walls of the Mansus on the night of his sudden blindness, delivering a message from ‘a Glory-stained Angel.’
I’m Reading…
‘If the Glory is truth, in its shadows, we find the mercy of memory - memories buried in the earth, conjured from smoke; the memory which drifts like sun-worn sea-ice…’
I’ve Read…
The book likens the Walls of the Mansus to glass which softens light, and exalts the Glory which leaks through them. Even so, it laments their hueless nature, and urges any who read to ensure ‘the Outermost Wall, the Last Colored Wall, the Wall of White falls not.’
