1921: Mycology

Università Velletri
20 January 1921

Professore Lacombe,

Effective immediately, your position at the University is terminated. The faculty will determine the future of the Department of Mycology upon further review.

Arson is a serious crime and we can make no allowance for bouts of mania caused by your illness. It will be years before we are capable of restoring the building to its previous state.

We retain the endowment of your benefactor, Dottore Robigo, and we continue to thank him for his boundless generosity towards our educational pursuits.

Rather than pursue legal recourse through the local authorities, we have deigned to share your personal address with your former employer. You may expect a visit soon; they assure us that there will be no problems with your extradition back to Britain.

Professore Donatto Cerullo, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences
